LYTHAM 2007

From the 3rd - 29th April 2007

Lytham Heritage centre open Tuesday - Sunday

This exhibition is my portrayal of where I live today (Lytham). As I'm originally from France I have come to Lytham as an outsider. This has enabled me to look in on the rich culture of this small English town. I'm able to watch at distance the battle between preservation of Lytham's history and its expansion and development. Lytham is generally perceived as a retirement area, but for the more affluent with designer shops and large house. To contrast this there are still families living here that can be traced back several generations over a hundred years or more. There is still a very small fishing industry that is just managing to stay alive.

With my photographs I wished to take a step away from the traditional images of lytham. The emphasis was on vibrant colours to show parts of Lytham that you might not have seen or wouldn't consider photographing. The people are all in some way connected with Lytham today. These photographs are a moment in time. The history and future are irrelevant, the images are a celebration of "now".

I shall be at the Lytham Heritage centre most days.
